The Scripture Marathon is hosted by and held at the Connect Centre, a ministry of Connecting Streams. Located in the heart of Ottawa, the Connect Centre is a welcoming drop-in space open Tuesday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM.
Through our partners at the Canadian Bible Society, we’ve stocked our shelves with Bibles and other Christian resources. We want to make sure that everyone in our city has access to the Scriptures.
Many who visit are unchurched, reflecting national trends from the Canadian Bible Society, where 40% of visitors to resource centres come from outside the church.
Thanks to Cedarview Alliance Church, South Asian Christian Fellowship Of Ottawa, and West Ottawa Community Church for a great first night of the Marathon!
Scripture Marathon Impact
A few weekends ago, we were blessed to partner with a dozen or so churches for an incredible time of public Scripture reading and outreach!
On Friday night, we read through the Gospel of Matthew, and on Saturday we continued with Acts through Revelation. About 100 people joined as readers — including some who spontaneously walked up and volunteered to read!
One of the most powerful moments came at the end of Friday night. After the final chapter of Matthew was read and the gospel was preached, a young man in his twenties or thirties gave his life to Jesus! 🙌 Our street engagement team prayed with him, and we’re following up with him personally. Praise God for new life!
Throughout the weekend, we had many meaningful conversations with people passing by and shared rich fellowship with the three churches that joined us on-site. It was a beautiful picture of the Body of Christ working together to lift high the Word of God in our community.
Thank you to everyone who prayed, read, supported, and participated. Let’s keep the Word going out!
