The Battlefield Of Relationships
TAKE 2 minutes FOR TRAINING
Relationships. You mentioned strife, division. A lot of times when there is division, strife, chaos there is an evil spirit at work.
Flesh and blood is not our enemy. The devil is our enemy. “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in (the) heavenly places.” James 3:16 says, “Where there is jealousy, envy and contention, rivalry and selfish ambition there will also be confusion, unrest, disharmony and rebellion and all sorts of evil and vile practices.”
The battle is not yours. The things that you’re coming against.
A lot of times it’s the stuff that’s going on around us. Psalm 133, “Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity for there the Lord commands a blessing.” It is amazing. When there’s unity; when there is a team…where there’s unity there’s blessing, there’s peace. But where there’s division, there’s every evil work.
In 1 Corinthians 13 the “Love Chapter”, “It’s not irritable, touchy or rude.” I remember one time my husband came to me and he just said things that were just unkind and I was learning about “not to take offence” because the Bible says, “Don’t take offence”; we have a choice. So I turned around and went upstairs and you know how when you’re quiet the mind goes like crazy; it’s just like, “I’m so angry and I’m just and I’m hurt” and out loud I had to say to myself, “No. I’m not going to be irritable, touchy or rude. I’m not taking offence.” And I had to battle it. Out loud. You know when you’re speaking out loud it causes your thoughts to drop. But if you’re quiet your thoughts are constantly going and going and pretty soon your whole body’s inline. So as I kept on talking to myself and saying, “No Lord I’m going to walk in love” and my husband comes upstairs and asks me something and I responded in love.
He came up to me and he said, “Shelly, I’m sorry.” I know that if I had kept the offence it would not have allowed God to be able to minister to his heart to say, “You just wounded your wife.”
second speaker: “And give no opportunity to the Devil.”
