Does Your Team Fly Together?
TAKE 2 minutes FOR TRAINING
TAKE2 TRANSCRIPT
There are things all around us, created by God, that we can learn from. Take Geese for instance. Do you know why they fly in groups and in a V formation?
As geese flap their wings, they create an uplift for the bird following. Flying in a “V” adds 71% greater flying range to the flock than flying alone.
We weren’t meant to do life alone—we need each other to go the distance. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10,12 encourages us: “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: 10 If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up… 12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
Whenever a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance, and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird immediately in front.
If we try to do it on our own, it doesn’t take long before noticing the absence of others.
Ephesians 4:3-4 encourages us, “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit…”
When the lead goose gets tired, it rotates back into formation and another goose flies at the point position.
We can’t always be the leader, sometimes it is good to step back and allow someone else to grow and take the lead.
Think: Moses to Joshua, Elijah to Elisha, or Jesus to the disciples.
The geese in formation honk from behind to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 puts it like this: “Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
When a goose gets wounded, two geese drop out of formation and follow it down. They stay with it until it is able to fly again or dies, then rejoin the flock.
Galatians 6:2 says, “Carry each other’s burden’s and in this way fulfill the law of Christ.”
May we serve in such a way that our unity, collaboration, encouragement, discipleship, and teamwork reflects the heart of God to others.

I so needed to see/hear/read this right now. During times such as these, we or rather I, tend to go out on my own. We all need reminders that we are not alone; God intended us to support each other, to go alongside of each other. Beautiful illustrations. Thank you.
Thank you Cathy for your comments, couldn’t agree with you more. Glad this was an encouragement to you.
