TAKE 2 minutes FOR TRAINING
It’s the good old Philippians 4:6-8. It says “Be anxious for nothing.” Don’t worry. And people go, “Yeah, well that’s easy for you to say.” Nope. It’s not easy for me to say because I was a professional worrier. You give me something; I could worry it to death. But it says, “But in everything, by prayer and supplication” (but it says) “with Thanksgiving” and we get that. You know, most of us get that. That we’ve got to be thankful for what you have; you’ve got to be thankful for what the Lord has done and that His promises are sound. That He doesn’t lie; that He does makes a way.
But then He goes, “Let your requests be made known to God.”
I don’t know about you guys but sometimes I was really hesitant to just ask God for a bunch of stuff because I thought, well, a) that’s kind of whining and, you know, like suck it up and be a little bit more mature. But there’s a formula here. There’s a pattern, there’s an instruction that if we just follow it, this is where we get to.
And so, what do we do? Don’t be anxious. Pray and enter into supplication if that’s where you’re at with what that problem is. And then it says, “Be thankful.”
The next step of making my request known to God and then seeing (so that equals) and then after we’ve told God everything that our heart is troubled about, then the peace of God comes. It says, “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and mind.”
Remember that it’s an equation. You’ve got to do it the way the Bible says in order to reap what it is that He promises.
