A Bold Heritage
TAKE 2 minutes FOR TRAINING
My name is Mary Lou Ng and I’m the Stream leader for Widow To Widow.
You know that the Holy Spirit is prompting you to talk about the gospel but you hold back. Why? I’ve been there. I’ve held back too many times. I know that fear and not knowing how or where to start are some of my biggest concerns. To encourage you and myself I want to point us to the book of Acts. To Peter and to John. The crippled beggar was asking for money. He had a need. Peter’s response was to show him Jesus’ power through healing his legs. “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Peter didn’t have what the man was asking for but he had so much more. He had the name of Jesus.
Do you believe that you have so much more than what those without the gospel could even think to ask for? Have you experienced Jesus’ transformational power in your life in such a way that you’re compelled to share Jesus at every opportunity? Do you have the same bold faith that we read about in the book of Acts? Bold faith is our heritage and we need to reclaim it.
Peter and John were brought before the Sanhedrin shortly after this healing and boldly proclaimed, “It is in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, who was crucified and raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.” At this meeting members of the Sanhedrin saw the courage that Peter and John had and were astonished and took note that they had been with Jesus. They were commanded not to speak at all or teach in the name of Jesus but their response was, “We cannot help but speak about what we have seen and heard.”
Let us experience our Lord each day in such a way that we are courageous and unstoppable in declaring His good news to the world.
