Addiction Recovery

Alberta

Prison
  • Fort Saskatchewan Correctional Centre
    • Teams of 3-5 meet in the chapel or a multi-purpose room with male and female inmates. Teaching is done in a conversational group setting with discussion and time for prayer.
  • Edmonton Institution
    • A team of 4-5 meet with male inmates in a group session of biblical teaching, discussion, and prayer.
  • Edmonton Young Offenders Centre
    • Teams of 2-3 meet in the chapel or on the unit to engage with 2-10 male and female young offenders in biblical teaching, discussion and prayer.
  • Edmonton Remand Centre
    • Teams of 3-4 visit 2-3 units per visit and meet in the gathering room on the unit. The team engages male and female inmates in a group session of biblical teaching, discussion and prayer.
  • Edmonton Institution for Women
    • A team of 2-3 visit female inmates in the chapel for biblical teaching, discussion, and prayer.
Long-Term Care & Seniors
  • Capital Care Strathcona – Harvest House
    • A team of 2-4 visits the alzheimer’s unit and engages residents in a hymn sing.
  • Good Samaritan Society – Dr. Gerald Zetter
    • Volunteers have the opportunity to engage in Sunday services, bible studies, or hymn sings with residents. They may also have the opportunity to visit and pray with seniors according to the chaplains direction.
  • Good Samaritan Society – Millwoods
    • Volunteers have the opportunity to engage in Sunday services, bible studies, or hymn sings with the residents. They may also have the opportunity to visit with the residents and assist them during evening meals.
Inner City
  • Women’s Emergency Accommodation Centre (WEAC)
    • A team of 3-5 gathers with 3-10 women at an inner city shelter for worship music and signing, biblical teaching, discussion, and prayer.
  • Hope Mission – Herb Jamieson Centre
    • A team of 3-6 facilitates an evening service including the gospel message and time to talk and pray with people afterwards. Attendees include people from the streets and those in the Herb Jamieson addiction recovery program.
Addiction Recovery
  • Adeara
    • A team of 2-4 gathers with women at this residential long-term recovery centre to engage in bible-based morning devotions.
  • Salvation Army – Addictions and Residential Centre (ARC)
    • A team of 2-5 gathers at a Salvation Army addiction recovery residence and engages male residents in biblical teaching, discussion, and prayer.
  • George Spady
    • A team of 3-4 gathers with people in short-term addiction recovery for group discussion around bible-based recovery material.
Widow to Widow (W2W)
  • W2W West Edmonton
    • Volunteers serve as a lead team for the group to create a community for widows to learn, laugh, and grow together. Groups gather for small group meetings that include bible studies, engaging speakers, and sharing stories, as well as informal extra curriculars.
  • W2W Central Edmonton
    • Volunteers serve as a lead team for the group to create a community for widows to learn, laugh, and grow together. Groups gather for small group meetings that include bible studies, engaging speakers, and sharing stories, as well as informal extra curriculars.
  • W2W Southwest Edmonton
    • Volunteers serve as a lead team for the group to create a community for widows to learn, laugh, and grow together. Groups gather for small group meetings that include bible studies, engaging speakers, and sharing stories, as well as informal extra curriculars.
  • W2W Sherwood Park
    • Volunteers serve as a lead team for the group to create a community for widows to learn, laugh, and grow together. Groups gather for small group meetings that include bible studies, engaging speakers, and sharing stories, as well as informal extra curriculars.
Intercultural
  • Conversation Cafe
    • Conversation Cafe is designed to encourage non-native English speakers to practice speaking English in an uncritical environment. In small groups of 3 to 5, facilitators use materials designed to stimulate conversation and to build relationships with one another.
Prayer
  • Ministry Intercessor Team
    • Prayer team volunteers will receive regular prayer requests sent in by volunteer teams to be prayed for on their own time.
Inner City
  • We provide intentional opportunities for teams to share their
    stories and the transforming love of Christ.

Long-Term Care & Seniors
  • Fellowship with Friends
    • This group ministers to seniors in long-term care and those experiencing end of life challenges, by touching lives through worship, prayer, fellowship and teaching.
  • Friends at Somerset
    • Volunteers minister to seniors in city-operated apartments. It is a fun and safe place to meet new friends, enjoy food, share stories and ask spiritual questions.
  • A Moment With God – Saint Vincent Hospital: Bruyere Continuing Care
    • Volunteers minister to adults with complex care needs who deal with a variety of health challenges and spiritual needs through worship and singing, biblical teaching, and encouragement.
Inner City
  • Bridges
    • In partnership with local churches, teams of volunteers are sent out to designated locations in public areas where they meet with vulnerable men and women in the inner city of Ottawa to have conversations, share the gospel and pray.
  • Dundonald Outreach
    • In partnership with local churches, teams of volunteers engage the patrons of Dundonald Park where they meet with vulnerable men and women to have conversations, share the gospel and pray.
Intercultural

    • Conversation Cafe is designed to encourage non-native English speakers to practice speaking English in an uncritical environment. In small groups of 3 to 5, facilitators use materials designed to stimulate conversation and to build relationships with one another.
Prayer
  • Ministry Intercessor Team
    • Prayer team volunteers will receive regular prayer requests sent in by volunteer teams to be prayed for on their own time. Each prayer team volunteer is also welcomed and encouraged to join in weekly prayer gatherings online for the ministry of Connecting Streams.
