As we enter the season of Advent, a time of preparation for Christmas, there are 3 words that resound in my head: FAITHFULNESS, SUFFERING and THANKFULNESS.
As I reflect back over the COVID-19 pandemic, I see SUFFERING everywhere. Sometimes it looks like anxiety over the uncertainty of jobs, finances, stability, and even routines. It may appear as fear creeping into lives and paralyzing people from even accomplishing the smallest thing. At times it is the physical suffering of COVID-19 itself or other maladies
However, we know that God is FAITHFUL and His faithfulness is ever-present even when we don’t see it. His Word is true and evidenced by the gift of Jesus and what that has done for mankind.
I have learned to let THANKFULNESS underpin the foundation of my Christian walk. Thankfulness allows me to effectively navigate these challenging times with the confidence that God has it all under control. When I take my eyes off thankfulness, I open the door for worry, grief, and other negative feelings. “Be Joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thess 5:16-18). It certainly isn’t always easy.
Christmas will absolutely look different this year! Yet, the reason for the season has not changed. Let us embrace this Christmas with a renewed HOPE in all God has promised!
I pray that the love of God the Father in the gift of His Son will strengthen and encourage you. I am so grateful to you for your ongoing support. You are appreciated and valued. Know that we are praying for you and invite you to send your specific prayer requests to us.
May you experience His treasures during this holy season.
