Do you have a story to tell? Our lives are made up of hundreds of stories, some very personal and some interwoven with the stories of others. Connecting Streams is a ministry built on stories: [...]

Looking Forward to 2020

Three years ago the Lord began calling me to a higher level of leadership. He was preparing me for my appointment six months later to the Power to Change Executive Team, now called the E-Team. In August 2018, I took on the role of National Prayer Igniter for Canada. (You can watch a video here about our recent Worldwide Day of Prayer.) My newest leadership role is Vice President of Ministries for Power to Change, which I am excited to begin on January 1st, 2020.

In his recent announcement to the Power to Change staff, President Rod Bergen said, “Donna has been a member of the Executive Team for several years and I greatly value her spiritual advice and wisdom. She will bring some complementary skills to the position which I believe will significantly benefit our ministries. Donna’s new responsibilities will result in her spending a lot more time at our Langley Headquarters. She will also continue to foster a culture of prayer within Power to Change as our national prayer igniter.”

My new role as VP of Ministries offers expanded opportunities to serve Power to Change nationally, and the transition is in God’s perfect timing. We have already been restructuring Connecting Streams for greater impact and transformation. These plans now include the appointment of a new National Director and the creation of an Executive Team.

I am delighted to announce that our current Ottawa City Team Lead Theresa Quann will take over as National Director of Connecting Streams. Theresa is an entrepreneur who ran one of the most successful real estate teams in Ottawa and has been very involved in missions work. Theresa’s heart for the marginalized and her posture of humility make her the clear choice to be my successor. She has many years of experience in leadership, including managing two houses for refugees and launching Connecting Streams in Ottawa four years ago. The Lord has confirmed His call on Theresa’s life many times. He has also prepared a new city leader in Ottawa so Theresa can fully commit to leading nationally, for as long as the Lord calls her.

Theresa will be well supported by Emily Lecerf and Anita Thiessen who lead our City Teams in Edmonton and Calgary. They all have a deep heart to see the marginalized transformed by Jesus, and will work together on the new Executive Team. After Theresa officially takes on the role of National Director January 1st, you will receive regular Connecting Streams updates from her.

Starting in January, I will be sending updates related to my new position as Vice President of Ministries and Power to Change as a whole. You may already receive some of these updates via our P2C Donor Connect newsletter. You can see the most recent newsletter here. Part of my role will be to coach Theresa as National Director of Connecting Streams, in addition to coaching the other Power to Change ministry directors.

As I prepare to take this step forward, I want you to know that your investment in me personally, and the ministry of Connecting Streams, has brought us here and is greatly valued. I am so grateful for the vital role that you have in connecting the church with society’s marginalized, and I hope you will continue to support this impactful ministry however the Lord leads you.

As we look towards 2020 and beyond, I am confident that Theresa is fully capable and willing to lead Connecting Streams into its next season of ministry so that many more will know Jesus and experience His power to change the world.
