In May we hosted our annual Volunteer Celebration Event. If I were to summarize my experience in a few words, I’d say it was fulfilling to the core. My eyes are welling up with tears even as I write. Let me tell you why…
When Connecting Streams was founded in 2006, we set out to build a ministry based on mutual transformation. We desired to see the Church transformed and discipled by engaging with people living on the margins of society. During May’s celebration, I was thrilled to hear our volunteer’s express just that — transformation. Seriously, you’d think we pay them to say these things!
Not only do these stories build my faith but they reinforce what I believe God spoke to us at the very beginning. As believers, when we take the risk to engage with people considered ‘marginalized’ by society, we are actually opening ourselves to growth on a scale not found in many other places. As you’ll hear from the stories in this newsletter, the impact of sharing Jesus with those he loves so deeply has been and will continue to be profound, mysterious, humbling, and rich.
As always, thanks for reading and opening your hearts with us.
