“For as the earth brings forth its bud, as the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth, so the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.” (Isaiah 61:11)
I can remember being a child and taking a few potatoes from the kitchen and going and planting them in the ground. I left them there that day and never really gave them another thought. A few months later I was surprised as I walked by that same spot and saw 2 full grown plants complete with a crop of potatoes.
I was talking with a girlfriend that I have known for about ten years. She always felt that she met me somewhere before, and finally she remembered where it was. She recalled our first meeting when I was around twelve or thirteen years old, working at a horse ranch. At that time she could see my neediness and started praying for me that I would receive salvation. It was about twenty-five years later that we met again and she got to see the harvest of her prayer.
In our time, there is such a sense of doubt that people will be open to the gospel and that anything we say about God even matters to them. However, the reality is that what God says: if we will plant seeds, they will grow! Let’s stand together in taking God at His word, and walk in faith that regardless of what we see with our eyes, we can be sure that life will spring forth if we will plant seeds. You may encounter someone months or even years later and be surprised at the plant that has grown!
“The Gentiles shall come to You from the ends of the earth and say ‘surely our fathers have inherited lies, worthlessness and unprofitable things.’ Therefore behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know my hand and My might; And they shall know that My name is the Lord.” (Jeremiah 16:19-21)
