Join the Family!

Written by Emmie Stanley

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.  By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35

Have you ever spent time with someone else’s family and just thought “I would love to be part of that family?”  What was it about them that was so attractive, encouraging, and heart warming?

The family of God is meant to be a friendly, caring, and welcoming place, and when others who do not know the Lord spend time with us, they should have that “I just want to be a part of this family feeling.

God is creating an eternal family and it is His heart’s desire that many would become a part of it.  Our part is to demonstrate His love, care, and acceptance by the way that we treat those who do not know Him, and by creating opportunities for them to experience His kindness.  This is the heart of Connecting Streams ministry, to create teams who go to various locations such as care homes, prisons, community centres, and even coffee houses, and be the family of God to the folks who reside there. It really is a ton of fun that reaches its crescendo when one person, followed by others, chooses to receive Jesus as their Savior and join this eternal family.  What joy!!

So be inclusive, be hospitable, and maybe even consider joining a Connecting Streams team and be part of growing the family of God.  It’s the best story you will ever tell, and the implications are eternal!
