Five ladies of the inner-city responded to our invitation to have coffee, meet new friends and ask spiritual questions at our first Connecting Streams Coffee House outreach group recently. A team of four leaders, who are strong in their faith and committed to reaching out to the community, met the guests – four of them definitely seekers in various stages of their spiritual journey. After welcoming the ladies and introducing ourselves to one another, we had some laughs and got to know each other a little through drawing some fun questions out of a box. Then we moved on to questions of a more spiritual nature, opening up opportunities to talk about God’s love.
On our second occasion three new ladies came. Already we are seeing relationships form, along with a growing comfort in talking about spiritual things. One of our volunteers did an outstanding job of sharing her testimony, which led to talking about Jesus and the opportunity to pray to receive Him. Although no one prayed to receive Christ, most of our guests were open to being prayed for (right there in the coffee shop!) for personal needs. They all expressed how much they enjoyed the time and look forward to come again the following week.
Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. Acts 17:30-31
