Completely Finished

Sacrifice on repeat. http://thelife.com/dailydevotions/completely-finished #LifeDevo

Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool. For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.” Hebrews 10:11-14

In the Old Testament, priests never sat down because the priest’s service was never complete. In the book of Hebrews, Paul reiterates that the Priests offered sacrifices repeatedly because Levitical sacrifices could never take away sin.

When Jesus died on the cross, He declared, “It is finished.” Jesus’ sacrifice was inclusive – for all time. On the third day, Jesus rose from the dead. When He ascended into heaven, He sat down at the Father’s right hand. Jesus is alive; His sacrifice is complete; His sacrifice is acceptable to the Father. Currently, Jesus is at the right hand of the Father – a priestly position of authority to forgive sins.

Have you pondered these profound truths lately? Jesus is alive – He sees and hears, and He has the power and authority to forgive and intercede for us. Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father. The sacrifice is complete. God forgives us. His sacrifice made us perfect – even as He continues to perfect us – sanctifying us to make us holy. Our hope is living. Our faith and hope is not in vain.

Jesus is Alive

So, today, ponder the reality that Jesus is alive, that His sacrifice is complete, and you are forgiven. May you be profoundly aware of His presence, grateful for His grace, and motivated to allow Him to continually search your heart and sanctify you. He purchased you with His blood. You are not your own. May you give Him His rightful place in your life!

Lord Jesus, please take your rightful place as the Lord of my heart and life. Search me O God, and create in me a clean heart. Awaken me to your presence; fill my heart with a profound gratefulness of all you have done at the cost of your sacrifice. Thank you that you are a living Saviour. Lead me through this day for Your Name’s sake. Amen!

Take Action

In order to make us perfect, God gave His only begotten Son. What if we saw sacrifice as a beautiful word? Take this online study.
