Walking in Obedience

We have an opportunity to raise funds for Connecting Streams Ministry through the Roy Financial Mayor’s Walk on April 26. Here is where it gets rough for me, I hate asking people for money even when it is for a good cause, which this certainly is. It is easier for me to write a sizable cheque myself than to ask others to, & I have done this, but God is not giving me the freedom to this in this case.

1 Peter 1:5 says “You are also like living stones so let yourselves be used to build a spiritual temple…”

You see each of us is a living stone, and together we are the temple, one of us by ourselves can’t even be a wall of a temple. Christ has called us to live interdependently not individualistically as I am often more comfortable doing. He doesn’t call us to a task alone, but to work with others, because together our individual efforts can be multiplied.   I have decided since I can’t beat Him I may as well join Him, so I have committed to asking family & friends to pledge me for this walk.

I have made a list of all those I will approach, drafted a letter & prayed for God to go before me.   But God is not letting me off the hook there; He is now challenging me to ask all of you to join me in this opportunity. What is the risk in this you may ask…the risk for me is that maybe all of you will say ‘no’ and I will have to do it all by myself. Now don’t get me wrong there are some things  I like to do alone, but this is not one of them! The walk takes place on Saturday, April 26 @ 9:30am in St. Albert, will you join me??

For your convenience you can register on line at http://www.royfinancialmayorswalk.com.  People can make pledges/donations online, so no cash or cheques are necessary, although certainly acceptable if that is the preferred way of a donor.

Again, I ask, will you join me? Please let me know! For those living in Sherwood Park we will be meeting at The Park Church parking lot @8:15am on Saturday April 26 so we can car pool if that works for you, and others just let me know if you are walking with us and we can arrange to meet in St Albert.

Okay, so I have been obedient to what the Lord has put on my heart, can’t wait to hear what He says to you about this.

God Bless,

Marti Vanderveen
