Do you have a story to tell? Our lives are made up of hundreds of stories, some very personal and some interwoven with the stories of others. Connecting Streams is a ministry built on stories: [...]

Welcome Bev Baum to the CS Team!

Bev BaumI have been part of PTC ministry for the past 5 years, but serving with Athletes in Action, Church Partnership Camps. My heart, since coming to the Lord when I was in university, has always been for the Church – to see God’s people be Christ’s hands, feet, and heart in a world that is in desperate need of His love and hope. I was a pastor for over 25 years, but felt God’s call to step out in faith and reach those who are not yet a part of the family of God. My time with AIA was amazing and I saw so much “fruit” from this ministry. I can’t “leave” AIA totally as sports are a passion of mine and a great avenue to reach people, but I also need to be serving more locally now that my mom and sister just became widows this past year.

When I was seeking the Lord’s mind regarding my future ministry, I was able to meet with Donna and discover what God was doing in Connecting Streams. It was so inspirational to hear about the W2W group that Jane had started and it was a natural fit for me at this point in my life with my mom and sister having a hard time finding a support network. Also, after visiting my mom at the Senior’s home, it was so sad to see many people who have NO ONE who visits them at all, another need of very marginalized people… So, the Lord has led me to initiate these 2 ministries in Camrose and I am beginning to get a leadership team together prior to launching out in 2 separate ministries. It has been good to share the vision with a number of people in Camrose and to have a few who are now on board, but I’d like to see this “tribe” increase. My prayer request is that our two teams could be established and going by Feb. with the possibility of adding more volunteers.

In building a W2W team, I am so thankful for Grace. Grace lost her first husband when she was a young mom with 2 boys. Her husband had a massive heart attack playing hockey. She was in her 20’s with 2 young boys and didn’t know where to turn. She raised her sons as a single mom for years until she met her present husband – at 40 years of age. When she heard I was doing this ministry she shared with me how this has always been a passion of hers and when she heard a group was starting in Camrose, she wanted to volunteer. I meet with her tomorrow and we will explore how she may be involved. Grace has MS, but felt THIS was something God would give her strength for. Please pray for Grace and her health.

My husband, Evan is a very gifted musician. When he heard how much the Seniors love music, he has agreed to be part of our Senior’s team and help me get a few groups of musicians going to the Lodge to play hymns, carols and other music for them. He will come twice a month and will head up a group to go with him. This will be fun to do togetherJ We’re also looking at some intergenerational groups coming to do regular visitation as an “adopt a grandparent” team. Amy and Ashley, two AIA volunteers would like to help me head this up.

I will need to do some more support raising these next couple of months and would ask that the

Lord direct me to those who He would like on my team. Please pray for His favor in this necessary part of our ministry….It is a joy to serve with you already and I feel very much a part of the Connecting Streams team – God bless you!
