Partnering with God

Donna MitchellHi Friends!

I was reading in 1 Peter and I thought of you. 1 Peter 2:9,10 in The Message says:

“But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do His work and speak out for Him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference He made for you – from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.”

He chose you to be set apart for Him and to be about your Father’s business. You have been called to speak out for Him and to share your story – what the Lord has done for you! We are accepted in Christ, and He yearns to extend that acceptance to all.

May the Lord empower and equip you. May He assure you of His presence and that He is “with” you in every sense of the word. He has a message and it is ringing out through you…He is making His appeal through you. He is the message.

Quote of the Month

“The greatest antidote to fear, to despair, is the power of ‘we’ – God, us, and others together. The sovereign One dreamed up this ‘diversity in unity’, and offers us the guidance and power-resourcing of the Holy Spirit to go before us and to come behind, covering our backs, all of our days.”          ~ Kathleen

swimmerFaith Adventure: Partnering With Him, by Deanna

Do you know anybody who doesn’t know how to swim? There are millions of people who don’t. Many of them have never been near enough water to even try.

Pretend you’re one of those people. The most water you’ve ever been in was in a bathtub. Now you decide you want to learn to swim, but the only pool available is ten feet deep everywhere; there is no shallow end. I think you’d be a little reluctant to just dive in – I know I would be.

I could tell you that the water would support you, that you would float. I could show you in an encyclopedia that the density of the human body is ever so slightly less than that of water. I could explain all sorts of theories, so that you would become intellectually convinced that your body would float.

Now… are you going to jump in? Probably not. You believe me when I tell you that you can float, but you’re not ready to act on it yet. You can tell me that you have absolute faith in what I have told you. You can quote back to me all the scientific details. You can study books on swimming, and quote them back to me word for word, chapter and verse. You can tell me how much you think you would love swimming. But until you get wet, it doesn’t mean a thing.          Read more

JesusJust Love Them Like Jesus, by Sandy

For all of us who are involved in ministry, there are going to be times when we feel unqualified, unprepared, and under a lot of opposition from the enemy, who tries to confirm to us that we are both unqualified and unprepared! Because unfortunately it is true that I am both of those things, I have had to focus on a bigger truth.

The biggest difference in my life since I accepted Jesus nine years ago has been having the experience of “unconditional love”. I had never received that from a person before.

I have come to realize that the one and only thing I want most for anyone to whom I go to minister is that they will have the experience of unconditional love that only Jesus can give.

What I have learned is that my prayer each and every time needs to be that Jesus would give me His love for the people I meet. I pray that my idea of caring, sharing, listening, and counselling would be washed away, and that He would overtake my mind and body so that all they see and feel is Him.        Read more

The training event with Carrielynn Lund will be helpful no matter to whom you are trying to reach out, but especially to people from Aboriginal backgrounds. We will take an offering, but there is no charge.

On the following Thursday, Carrielynn will do an outreach event. She has an incredible story, and the Lord has put on her heart to share the reason for her hope. She was born in prison, has been through horrendous pain, and the Lord met her in the midst. If you know others who are struggling to find hope or who are seeking but have not found, please consider inviting them to this event. It is an opportunity to reach out to friends and family. We are charging $10 for tickets, but would rather have women come for free than for money to be an issue.
