Thanksgiving weekend is fast approaching in Canada. I have a profound gratefulness welling up within of the message that we are given the privilege to share – the gospel – and that the Lord has chosen to make His appeal to others through us as His partners!
Last Sunday during my time with the Lord, He took me to the first five chapters of 2 Corinthians. As I began to read, the Lord highlighted certain truths He wants to remind us:
- We have been chosen by the will of God.
- We have received comfort so we can comfort others.
- All of us have lived through trials (maybe even those we thought were beyond our ability to endure) so that we would stop relying on ourselves and learn to rely on God. God is the One who enables us to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us.
- He has identified us as His own by placing His Holy Spirit in us. He uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume.
- Who is adequate for such a task as this? Our qualification comes from God. We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.
- He died for everyone so that those who receive His new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them. God has given us the task of reconciling people to Him. He gave this wonderful message of reconciliation. So, we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making His appeal through us!
As was reiterated at our training event last Saturday from the book of Joshua, “Don’t be afraid…don’t be afraid…don’t be afraid…because the Lord your God will be with you everywhere you go.”

Quote of the Month:
“I spent most of my Christian life wandering, like the Israelites, knowing that God had more for me, but not knowing how to get to the Promised Land. I am so grateful for Connecting Streams because they have provided an opportunity for me to accept God’s invitation to join Him, intentionally with others, to reach out to those who are hurting and broken. They have provided the highway or avenue for me to travel on to discover a taste of the abundant life that God has always wanted me to experience. By joining Connecting Streams, I have had the privilege of discovering the amazing adventure of following the Lord and watching what He does, which has increased my faith in Him immensely. In going to the prison, I have been learning the art of listening to Him and doing what He says. Everything that I have gained has come, just like in the story of the Israelites, only through stepping out and going, and would not have been learned any other way. All of the benefits that I have received through this amazing ministry came after I said yes and moved forward in obedience. Not before.”

Book of the Month – Plan B: What Do You Do When God Doesn’t Show Up the Way You Thought He Would? by Pete Wilson

On an afternoon outing in the mountains, I found myself enjoying the scenery and lunch at a little outdoor patio café. I had been reflecting on the beauty around me and talking to the Lord about my sense of His nearness in creation, so I thought I would journal a bit as I ate my lunch. A few minutes into my musings, a lady sat down at my table and asked if she could join me, as it was quite crowded over the lunch hour.
We began to talk. She asked why I was in the area, so I told her about the conference I was attending that was focusing on people’s spiritual longings or soul cravings. I asked her if she felt that these inherent longings for love, belonging, and acceptance that everyone in the world has could have come from God. Could it be we were designed by Him to have these deep needs which were meant to be filled by Him? Read more…
