God’s Word Will Not Return Void

                Hi Friends!

One of our ministry leaders, Debra Karman, recently shared with her supporting partners a true story that just happened to her in the prison, about how one of the inmates who had been hardened and unreceptive to her sharing initially, later softened under the power of the Holy Spirit. This woman eventually became a Christian and was an inspiration to those around her, as they saw her newfound peace and joy.

As I heard this story, I realized again how important it is to trust that God is constantly at work around us, even in the unlikeliest of situations. We may see no hope of change on the surface, but His Spirit is working the soil deep down, as the Word of the Lord that went forth begins to penetrate.

Isaiah 55: 10-11: “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so is My word that goes out from My mouth: It will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

Read here for the full story. Do not grow weary in speaking the truth in love, or in investing in those around you, for in due season God will produce a crop of His own doing.

Inspirational Video of the Month:

David Wilkerson’s “A Call to Anguish“, produced by Bravehearted Gospel, is a sobering reflection on the current state of our society and the Church. David Wilkerson, most famous for his book The Cross and the Switchblade, is the founder of Times Square Church in New York; and has national appeal in his messages about God’s holiness and righteousness, God’s love toward humans, and especially Christian views of Jesus. Connecting Streams Women’s Ministry Director Donna Mitchell’s reaction to the video was: “Wow…hard to listen, yet I need to hear.” Click here to view this powerful seven-minute video — and please share it with your friends.

Faith Adventure: Absolutely Terrified, by Sabrina Bright

I had been unable to swim all my life – I couldn’t even dog paddle. In my mid-20s, my hubby and I went to Mexico. I was “wading” around, stepped into a little dip in the sand, and freaked out. Curtis had to come out and rescue me because I was convinced I couldn’t touch bottom (even though I could!). His father had drowned (in front of the whole family of 6 children and a pregnant wife) when my husband was in second grade. As a result, he was very nervous about MY fear of water, so he respectfully asked me to take a very, very basic swim class, in order to keep me safe. I joined a class called “Absolutely Terrified”….                   Read more….

Effective Recruitment, by Cath Thorlakson

Read Mark 1 : 9 – 22

“And passing along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon (Peter) and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net in the sea, for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, Come after Me and I will make you fishers of men. And at once they left their nets and (yielded up all claim to them) followed (with) Him (joining Him as disciples and siding with His party).”
                                                                                                  Mark 1 : 16 – 18

Talk about successful recruitment! I’ll bet Jesus didn’t spend one minute worrying. It seems to me that He prayed, recognized the opportunity when it came, and from there it was easy. Why was it easy? Because all Jesus did was obey one step at a time.                                                                            Read more….
