2009 is behind us – much we can learn from. As I look back, I realize afresh that God is faithful. Every challenge, gift, provision, lesson, heartache, and comfort He has used to reveal His character and build my faith. Thus far the Lord has led. I am sure you can say the same as you reflect back.
2010 lies ahead…an adventure of learning, growing, and trusting Him! An opportunity to make a difference in the world and be changed in the process!
We have a secure hand holding ours Who invites us into the adventure of trusting Him that’s set before us. We can determine in our heart today to trust the LORD moment by moment. Take Him at His word. Ask for His leading and direction. Listen for His prompting and do what He asks. As the old hymn Trust and Obey pronounces…”Trust and obey, for there’s no other way, to be happy in Jesus, than to trust and obey.” Believe His heart even when we cannot see His hand. Let’s ask the Lord to deepen our faith and trust in Him this year ahead. Let’s ask Him to take us on a faith adventure of trusting Him and getting to know Him better as we make Him known!
May 2010 be your best year yet as you trust the God who is secure on His throne. May David’s blessing and challenge to his son Solomon from 1 Chronicles 22:11 – 13, 19 NLT be for each of us:
“…may the Lord be with you and give you success as you follow His directions…And may the Lord give you wisdom and understanding, that you may obey…Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or lose heart!…Now seek the Lord your God with all your heart and soul.”
As Solomon was challenged to build the sanctuary of the LORD God to honor the LORD’s name, may we build into the lives of others for His glory and renown!

Faith Adventure: Christmas at the Prison, by Josie Vance
My chest feels tight as I look around the room and realize there is no easy escape. To leave this gymnasium to just to visit the washroom will require an escort by a guard and potentially another dog search. For the first time inside these prison walls I feel the entrapment…I cannot just get up and walk out the door to my next appointment. And I am just a visitor here; I’ve been here several times before.
I take a deep breath and remember that soon I will be heading out, on my way home on a cold winter’s night to kiss my children who are asleep in their beds and give a hug to my husband as I show him the Christmas gifts I picked up at the store today. The claustrophobic thoughts of being watched and guarded will have left my mind and the women who live here will be out of sight for a time. I am free. Read more…

Energy, by Cath Thorlakson
Read Colossians 1:27 – 29
“For this I labor (unto weariness), striving with all the superhuman energy which He so mightily enkindles and works within me.”
What does this mean: superhuman energy? Do you have it? How do you know if you do?
I see two important points in these three verses. First, we have been given the energy for the work that God has called us to. That work is present in every person mature in Christ. We are all involved at some level of others’ spiritual development. Read more…
