Read Isaiah 58
“But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
– Mt. 17:21 (Amplified)
“And when He (Jesus) had gone indoors, His disciples asked Him privately, ‘Why could not we drive it out? And He replied to them, ‘This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer and fasting.”
– Mk. 9:28 – 29 (Amplified)
Could it be that fasting is like the “superjuice” of power in the engine of prayer?
What is your dream in ministry? If you knew that under your leadership, people would be miraculously saved and set free, would you do what it takes to see that happen? If you knew that the city or town around you – or even our world – could see the hungry and destitute fed and cared for, would you say, ‘Let’s do it!’?
Wouldn’t it be exciting to see injustice eliminated and all false, harsh, unjust, and wicked speaking stopped? How much cleaner would bathroom walls, certain landmarks, TV programs, movies, and school environments be? Do you long to see the righteousness of God take our world by storm and drastically change it? I do!
Is it time for us to throw up our hands and abandon our world and our children’s world to the power of the enemy? None of us are willing to do that, but are we willing to do what it takes to break the bonds of wickedness and oppression; to see the poor fed and cared for; to see the use of language become honorable and pure; and to see the glory of the Lord?
Please read Isaiah 58; the entire chapter. This is the fast that God has called us to; to cease from daily activity and dedicate time to see the power of God transform our world. Such hope! Such anticipation! Such inspiration! Would you enter into the ‘superjuice’ discipline of fasting and prayer to see the glory of the Lord? It is so worth it!
